The use of petrol and diesel engines on Lake Starnberg is extermely limited. This prompted the managing directors of Torqeedo Germany, Dr. Christoph Ballin and Dr. Friedrich Böbel, to take a closer look at the topic of electric boat drives in 2004. The idea of an electric motor for use on Lake Starnberg gave rise to the Torqeedo brand. 

Development of Torqeedo Starnberg

Since its foundation in 2005, Torqeedo has set many standards and established itself as a pioneer in the field of electric mobility on water.
