What are additives for?
For better starting and overall performance
Additives are extra substances that are added to oil or fuel in small quantities. LIQUI MOLY additives are specially formulated to improve performance, combat problems and protect against them. LIQUI MOLY Marine Diesel Protection, for example, offers a high level of efficiency in combating bacteria, yeasts and molds and disinfects diesel tank systems affected by bacterial contamination. Diesel pest: small organisms, big problems
Additives tested - what do they really do?
Two control samples were created for the test. One sample a mixture of diesel fuel WITHOUT additive and 0.5% water, the other diesel fuel WITH additive and 0.5% water. Both mixtures were exposed to three microorganisms (bacteria, yeast and fungi).
After an incubation period of 21 days, we analysed how many microorganisms were killed, if any, or whether there was an increase. In the sample WITHOUT additives, organisms spread rapidly, in the mixture WITH additives, after 7 days there were no more detectable microorganisms. After 21 days there were no more microorganisms.

Water in the transmission? New development especially for Mercury outboard motors provides remedy
Boat engines face a problem that vehicles on land do not: Water in the transmission. If the engine is left standing for a longer period of time, water separates from the transmission oil and settles. This water layer can then cause corrosion, which leads to transmission problems and shortens its service life. LIQUI MOLY's Marine High Performance Transmission Oil 85W-90 offers significantly better emulsifying properties than conventional transmission oils, while maintaining its lubricating capabilities. 85W-90 keeps the water dissolved in the oil so that it cannot settle. Despite the dissolved water contained therein, the transmission is reliably lubricated.
