- The heart of every solar panel -
It transforms light into electrical energy. A distinction is made between mono, multi, crystalline and thin-film cells. SUNWARE only uses crystalline solar cells because they provide the highest degree of performance for their size. This aspect plays an important role on board, where there is a general lack of space.
Having sensitive glass surfaces on board should be avoided, so SUNWARE uses fluorine polymer film instead. It has the same translucency as glass and is also extremely UV-resistant and absolutely shatterproof. As a result, there are no splinters, which ensures optimum safety and reliability. In addition, the film is resistant to dirt, so that even stubborn grime can easily be washed off.
Thanks to rounded corners and an extremely flat structural height, tripping is impossible. The solar panels can be simply glued or screwed to the deck.
All panels are tested daily using authentic water from the North Sea. Each solar cell is carefully examined and then installed before the manufacturing process is completed. Each panel is thoroughly tested in a salt water spraying system.
On average, the salt content of seawater is 3.5%, a real challenge for materials and the manufacturing process. A 1 mm thick stainless steel carrier plate protects against corrosion. On the sides, an additional 5 mm is laminated, so that the carrier plate and cells remain permanently hermetically protected. The cable outlets are 100% watertight, seeing as they are screwed in and then potted.
All SUNWARE products are developed and produced in Germany. In addition to the production process, SUNWARE is also working on further developing solar technology and researching new groundbreaking innovations. 25 years of experience on the world's oceans pays off!
